This home is a simple country farm house on a beautiful lot in McLean, Va. The home does not feel as large as it really is. A mixture of a stone main house with brick wings gives the home a feeling of longevity and reduces its apparent size. The interior layout allows most rooms to bring light in from at least two directions.
Since the owner’s suite is located on the first level, this allowed us to play with the ceiling shapes and volumes in the owner’s suite and family room. Barrel ceilings and cathedral ceilings add unique design elements to the home. Stained wood trim provides accents to the informal living areas of the house. Both the owner’s suite and the family room are provided with walk out rear porches to overlook the sunken rear yard.
