From the beginning the client was looking for a home that reflects their casual contemporary lifestyle for their new home in West Bethesda. The design carries a consistency from the exterior front elevation to every room in the house.
The house has wide overhangs and a low-pitched roof to provide a horizontal cap to the dynamic home. A balance of stucco and stone provide a warmth of materials and color. The Horizontal banded stone pattern adds to the clean linear feel and additional level of detail to the home. The Stone planes and columns at the front both help extend the visual impact of the house as well as define the entry.
Once you enter the home you are impacted by glass window walls opening onto the rear yard as well as secluded garden grottos. The living room has a grand 12’ ceiling and a corner window opening onto the garden while being screened from the road. The Main family, kitchen, nook areas of the house flow into each other un-interrupted all with soaring window walls with views of the pool and rear yard. The house interior is carried by the simple well-built clean lines throughout. Casings, base trim and stair rail all complement each other with precision.
A covered veranda accentuates the rear of the house, complete with hidden drop tv/ outdoor kitchen/ and a comfortable outdoor living area near the pool.
The design flair does not stop on the main floor. The owner suite continues the expansive window walls, and simple clean detailing. The owner’s bath is entered through custom sliding panels and offers clean lines and details in every corner. Each bedroom offers wonderful light filled rooms that are extremely livable.
